Spider-Man’s standalone film to be titled “Spider-Man:Homecoming”?
Ever since the announcement of Sony and Marvel teaming up to include Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), fans around the world were delighted with joy to finally know Spidey will be in the same universe as the rest of the Avengers crew. This is the third reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, which will have a different take on the web-slinging superhero, this time as a younger Peter Parker during high school and will be played by Tom Holland.
Robert Downey Jr. spilled the beans a while back on the news that Holland’s Spiderman would make an appearance in the upcoming film Captain America: Civil War, and in the latest trailer we finally get a sneak peak of the new iteration of Spider-Man.
Sony has recently acquired the domain SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com, which redirects to Sony entertainment’s website, and offers clues to what the next standalone Spider-Man film will be called as well as what it might be about. This might have nothing to do with the upcoming Spider-Man solo film as Sony is planning an animated film for Spider-Man, but if it does the story may come from “Amazing Spider-Man” issue #252, titled none other than Homecoming, when we are introduced to a black symbiotic suit better which eventually turns into the Venom, and features Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor which means any one of them might make appearances in the standalone film. The Homecoming title also might just be a nod towards Peter’s high school life, as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has explained he wants the movie to be like a John Hughes movie, centered around his high school career more than him being a superhero. Wether or not Sony and Marvel will be using this title and story is still under speculation, but one thing we know for sure is, if you want to see the new Spider-Man in action, go check him out in Captain America: Civil War when the movie hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
